On the last Thursday of Term 3 Mrs Brogden and the Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 teachers helped prepare a healthy food party for the students. As part of their health lessons, students are learning how to make healthy food choices. There were many delicious fruits, vegetables and grains at the party. Last Tuesday we had our School Athletics Carnival. We were blessed with beautiful weather and all of the children from Kindergarten to Year 6 had a fantastic day competing in running races, field events and other fun activities during the Tabloid. Thank you to all of the parents who came to support the children and cheer them on throughout the day. A special mention to all of the parent volunteers who assisted on the day as timekeepers, ribbon writers and starters. Without the parent volunteers we would not be able to run the day as successfully as we did. Congratulations to the winning house, Green and to all of our Age Champions and Sportsmanship award winners.
On Wednesday the 3rd of July, 3 teams competed in the Parramatta Diocese Stage 3 Boys Soccer Gala Day at Jamison Park, Penrith. Mrs. Brogden and Mrs. Willemse thoroughly enjoyed the day and the students displayed outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and behaviour. Thank you to Mr. Pollard for helping coach the 2nd team. Congratulations boys on a great day!
Throughout Term Two the students at OLOL have enjoyed participating in the program Dance Fever. Students from Kindergarten to Year Two learnt a number of short dances which they proudly displayed to their parents and friends at their school concert today. On Wednesday 26th June 2019 approximately 90 students from Year Three to Year Six represented Our Lady of Lourdes at the Dance Fever Interschool Competition at Homebush. They performed the formal dances of the FoxTrot and Cha Cha and then participated in the whole school showdance competition where they performed against a number of other schools. All students represented our school with pride and won a number of individual ribbons as well as the Year ThreeTrophy and the Overall School Dance Trophy. It was a very windy Wednesday at Jamison Park, Penrith in Week 5 of Term 2 when the Year 5 & 6 Soccer teams represented OLOL with outstanding teamwork, fair play and laughs. The girls improved their football skills throughout the day with both teams gaining wins and draws. After a true team effort the following girls scored goals throughout the day: Amelia, Jessie, Jaylene, Nikita, Erika and Ruby. Those who played in the goalkeeper position are also to be commended with Mary-Rose, Aarushi and Alexandra working hard to keep the ball from making its mark! Congratulations to both teams for their amazing positive attitude and fun! Thank you to the parents who helped transport other students and assisted on the day.
In Week 4 of Term 1 was the opening of our new play equipment. This was a source of great excitement for students and staff alike. To ensure that the playground is used in a safe and responsible way we have put a number of measures in place. Read more...
What a wonderful day we had on Friday the 29th of March at our annual Cross Country carnival. Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the race. There was a great sense of team spirit and determination throughout the day with all of the students trying their best and supporting each other. A very special thank you to the parents who volunteered to help on the day, without your assistance we would not be able to run these carnivals for the children. We would like to congratulate all of the students who will be going through to the Diocesan Cross Country carnival next term. These students will receive their permission note later this week.
On Wednesday, 6th December, we held our annual Swimming Carnival at Blacktown Aquatic Centre. Stages 2 & 3 started the morning with a visit from Surf Life Saving Australia and Royal Life Saving Australia and discovered how to keep safe around beaches and inland waterways. Congratulations to every student who participated in the races and cheering for their fellow students! The display of teamwork, sportsmanship and respect amongst all the students was fantastic to see and all should be proud of their effort. House Captains led the teams well with cheers and team spirit being showing through in the enthusiastic cheers. Thanks must go to the band of ready Parent Helpers who took on the roles of Time Keepers. Thank you to the staff of OLOL for their dedication and involvement as House Patrons, Recorders and Officials. 1st - Green - 236 points 2nd - Blue - 208 points 3rd - Red - 196 points 4th - Gold - 134 points. On Tuesday the 14th of August Ms Critchlow and Mrs Clynick travelled with 31 children to the Blacktown International Sports Park to compete in the Blacktown Zone Athletics Carnival. It was a fantastic day where the students were able to showcase their different sporting abilities. All students represented Our Lady of Lourdes with great sportsmanship and pride. A special congratulations to the students who will be representing Parramatta Diocese at the next carnival. Thank you to David Spadaro and Penny Kostis for volunteering as track officials on the day.

They performed the formal dances of the Samba and Waltz and then participated in the whole school showdance competition where they performed against a number of other schools. All students represented our school with pride and won a number of individual ribbons as well as the Year Four Trophy and the prestiges Show Dance Trophy. It was a very successful and enjoyable night for all.
