2018 Dance Fever Competition

On Friday 29th June 2018 approximately 110 students from Year Three to Year Six represented Our Lady of Lourdes at the Dance Fever Interschool Competition at Homebush. They performed the formal dances of the Samba and Waltz and then participated in the whole school showdance competition where they performed against a number of other schools. All students represented our school with pride and won a number of individual ribbons as well as the Year Four Trophy and the prestiges Show Dance Trophy. It was a very successful and enjoyable night for all.

2018 Musica Viva Taikoz Performance

On Thursday the 28th of June students in Years 3-6 had a very special learning experience in seeing the Japanese drumming group, “Taikoz” perform in the school hall. The students got to see and learn the names of Japanese instruments such as the Taiko drums, the Chappa cymbals and the Shinobue flute. The students also got to join in with actions and movement to the performances. Some lucky students got to have a turn playing the instruments as well. It was a wonderful experience for the students and teachers and a great way to finish our Music learning this term.

2018 Athletics Carnival

On Monday the 25th of June OLOL held our 2018 Athletics Carnival. The students of OLOL enjoyed a beautiful day with perfect weather for the 2018 Athletics Carnival. All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 were very busy with Tabloid, Track and Field events. Thank you very much to the parents who assisted with set up, pack up, track and field events. Your time and effort was truly appreciated. Thank you to Staff and Students for their participation and amazing sportsmanship!

2018 World Cupathon

On Friday the 15th of June OLOL held it's 2018 World Cupathon to celebrate the Soccer World Cup and raise money for our school. Students were placed into country teams and competed in fun events all day. A great day was had by all.

2018 Music Lessons

This term the OLOL students in Years 3-6 have been learning to play Ukulele, Keyboards and Drums. In groups they have been working on composing their own piece of music to share with the class, as well as creating it in Garageband on the iPads. It's been a lot of fun!

2018 John Burland Concert

On Monday the 4th of June we had a surprise concert. John Burland was visiting the Parish and was generous enough to spend some time with the children singing and performing during our usual assembly time. John Burland is an educator and composer who has been writing and recording religious music for children and adults for over twenty years. The children had a fantastic time learning new songs and singing songs they knew with great enthusiasm. Even our choir that is only two weeks in the making had the opportunity to make their debut performance.

2018 Confirmation

Congratulations to all of the candidates who made their Confirmation on Friday May 25. Our community was blessed to have Bishop Vincent preside over the ceremony which helped to make this sacrament very special. Our ongoing thanks go to Mrs Judy Barden who coordinates all of the sacraments in our parish. We are very privileged to have her as our sacramental leader and each and every ceremony that she coordinates runs efficiently and smoothly.

2018 International Family Day

On Monday the 14th of May OLOL took part in a special Liturgy to celebrate Bishop Vincent's initiative to raise funds for CatholicCare in support of all their work for families to help support the United Nations International Day of Families n the 15th of May. The students also took part in a fun dress up Mufti Day on Friday the 18th of May by dressing up as a family member and donating a gold coin towards the initiative. It was a lovely occasion to celebrate all our families.

2018 Mothers Day at OLOL

On Friday the 11th of May the OLOL Community celebrated Mothers Day with our traditional breakfast in the hall, followed by open classrooms and our beautiful Mass celebration of all our Mothers.

2018 Mark Taylor Shield Round 2

In the last week of Term 1, selected OLOL students represented the school at the Mark Taylor Cricket Shield. The boys played well and displayed an excellent sporting attitude defeating Redfield College. The boys will progress to the third round in Term 2.

2018 OLOL Cross Country

On Friday, 6th April, we held our annual Cross Country Carnival at OLOL. This was the culmination of a term of work in PE lessons for Kindergarten through to Year 6. Congratulations to every student who participated on a very warm autumn day! The display of teamwork, sportsmanship and respect amongst all the students was fantastic to see and all should be proud of their effort.

2018 Holy Week Prayer Room

Last week, the children were engaged in a multi sensory and reflective experience where they immersed themselves in the events of Holy Week. The Holy Week Prayer Room invited the students to reflect on Jesus’ journey through the events of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday. Each class started their prayer journey by watching a reflective clip on what Easter means to them. This enabled them to think about what ‘the real meaning of Easter’ was. They then entered the Prayer Room where they were able to reflect on Jesus, his feelings, his intentions and the effect that he had on us as His followers.

2018 Stage 3 Touch Football Gala Day

On the last day of Term One a group of Stage Three students participated in the Touch Football Gala Day. Our Lady of Lourdes entered three teams, two boys teams and a girls team. Each player displayed great skill, exceptional sportsmanship qualities and a large competitive drive. The Blue Boys team won their division and very proudly received a medal for their efforts. The White boys team came third while the girls narrowly missed out on first place and came runners up in a tight for and against points count!

2018 Stage 3 Canberra Camp

In Week 6 of Term 1 from the 7th - 9th of March, Stage 3 students visited Canberra as part of their History and Geography Project Based Learning Unit, Australia becomes a Nation. The students visited the AIS, Australian Electoral Commission, Parliament House, War Memorial, the Mint, Questacon, The National Museum, The National Gallery and Geoscience Australia.

Heading for 2018 National Young Leaders Day

On the 12th of March all of O.L.O.L Year Six leaders attended the Young National Leaders day in Darling Harbour where they listened to inspirational guest speakers and learnt the importance of leadership.

2018 Mark Taylor Shield Cricket

On Tuesday the 13th of March the Our Lady of Lourdes cricket team played the first round of the Mark Taylor Shield cricket competition. We played against Mary Immaculate, Quakers Hill who were very gracious hosts. Congratulations to the boys on their convincing win.

2018 Catholic Schools Week

From Monday the 5th of March we celebrated Catholic Schools Week. We had our Open Day for many new families on Monday and celebrated as a school community with Open Classrooms, Mass and morning tea with our Parents on Tuesday the 6th. It was a special way to celebrate the wonderful spirit of our Catholic school.

On Tuesday the 22nd of August 88 of our students performed at Parramatta Riverside Theatre in the Wakakirri Story Dance Competition. The students represented our school with pride and did an incredible job, winning awards for Best Costume, Hair and Make-up. Well done!

Dance Fever Inter-School Challenge

On Thursday the 29th of June our Primary students competed in the Dance Fever Inter-School Challenge. The students competed in Ballroom partner dancing and a whole group Hip-Hop challenge, "OLOL Has Talent'. We won many ribbons as well as The Year 6 Trophy, The Most Points Scored for a School Trophy and the Best Hip-Hop Trophy. Well done to all!

Holy Week 2017

On Wednesday the 5th of April OLOL celebrated Holy Week with a beautiful and moving re-enactment of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday. We all walked on a pilgrimage following Jesus' footsteps throughout our school. It was a very special way to remember Holy Week and prepare for Easter.
