Creative Arts Term 4 Filming

This term in Creative Arts lessons, students in Years 1-6 are undertaking filming activities. Years 1 and 2 are making stick puppet plays for "Where the Wild Things Are" and filming them and editing with iMovie. Students in Year 3 and 4 are learning how to make Stop Motion Films. Year 5 are writing scripts and making undercover news reports with iMovie and Year 6 are filming for their end of school Yearbook. It's been very exciting seeing the enthusiasm of the students with these tasks. Looking forward to seeing the final results!

Positive behaviour creates great learning!

Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta (CEDP) school leaders and teachers were given a special opportunity to expand their knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support For Learning (PBS4L) when Dr Tim Lewis, Professor of Special Education at the University of Missouri, shared his research with them recently. 2018 Infants Fruit Salad Rainbows

As part of their PD Health lessons last term, infants students were learning about healthy foods and making good food choices in their lessons with Mrs. Brogden. To celebrate this learning Mrs. Brogden organised and spent many hours cutting up colourful fresh fruits and vegetables for the children to make their own rainbows. This was a wonderful experience for all the children. Thank you to Mrs. Brogden for your dedication and hard work for this great healthy living activity.

2018 All Saints Day Mass

On Thursday the 1st of November, the OLOL Community gathered to celebrate All Saints Day with a beautiful Mass. Thank you to all the Stage 3 Teachers and students who helped organise the Mass and for Father Henry for leading us during the prayer celebration.

2018 Education Mass

On Thursday October 25, four children accompanied Mrs Bawden and Miss Espiritu to the annual Education Mass (formerly known as the Mission Mass) at St Patrick’s Cathedral Parramatta. We had the privilege of celebrating Mass with Bishop Vincent Long and managed to meet him afterwards at the Mission exhibition. Thank you to Ethan, Charlotte, Angela and Catherine (pictured) who represented our school so confidently and reverently. They were inspired by the works and exhibitions of other schools and got some great ideas to share with our social justice team.

Creative Arts Showcase Concert

On Thursday the 27th of September we held our first ever Creative Arts Showcase Concert. We got to show the Parents, Teachers and Students all the wonderful gifts and talents of the students in the OLOL Community. We heard a beautiful Welcome Song from Infants classes, saw amazing dance performances from Year 3-6, heard the Choir sing, heard the Ukulele group play and were dazzled by our first performance of our first ever OLOL Rock Band. Congratulations to all students who were selected to participate. The concert was an amazing success.

2018 Year 6 Market Day

On Thursday the 13th of September, Year 6 students held their annual Market Day fundraiser for their End of Year Graduation Disco. The students all created various stalls and sold treats, played games for prizes. The children enjoyed the sweet treats and many funds were raised for the Disco. Thank you to all the students and parents and teachers fro their efforts to help make this event a success.

2018 Fathers Day

On Friday the 31st of August the OLOL community gathered to celebrate Father's Day. Our Father’s Day breakfast was once again a great success. It was wonderful to see so many Dads enjoying breakfast with their children. A special thank you to all those people who helped to set up, cook and serve on the day. Lisa Brereton, Julie Abdilla, Rebecca Clark, Sonia Holmes, Megan Shawcross, Brian Galea, Janine and John Ballment, Melissa Fahey, Melinda Sammut, Karyn Dsouza and Katherine Fountain. Without the support of our helpers great community events such as these are not possible. We also celebrated the children's learning with their Dad's with our open classrooms and a beautiful Mass in the Church. Thank you to all who came to celebrate this special day.

2018 Book Week

On Monday the 20th of August we celebrated Book Week with our traditional parade, in-class activities and trivia. The day ran smoothly and students and teachers alike enjoyed the activities. Even the presence of Mrs Majestic Jones at the morning assembly couldn’t spoil the day!!
